Slowing down…2021 style

As we begin the new year it’s easy to lose track of the time we spent relaxing around the holidays. Yes, it’s always busy leading up to the holidays, but it always seems to slow down for the week between Christmas and New Years. I realize not everyone celebrates Christmas but there are so many holidays/holy days around this time of year I’m pretty sure we all have a frame of reference for the feeling that comes from knowing you have time off and nobody really expects too much of you.

If you’re looking for a way to slow down as we start gearing up to go back to high productivity on Monday morning, try watching Sakte TV from Norway. It literally takes you around the country. Some videos are shorter and some go longer, but you can watch when you feel like it and see things like reindeer migration, a boat trip around the fjords, or a train trip across the country.

Bergen to Oslo train trip

Hurtigruten boat trip

Telemark Canal boat trip

If you’re thinking, “Why would I watch a trip I’m not on?” consider the fact that nobody is going anywhere right now so traveling virtually isn’t the worst option, and thousands of Norwegians (consider that Norway is a country consistently in the top five for happiness in the world) find this relaxing and enjoyable.

I mean, what have we got to lose?
