Christmas Cookie Exchange

I wanted something to bring to a cookie exchange but didn’t want to cook something with a lot of sugar and carbs because I know myself and if it’s in the house, I’ll eat it! lol

So I decided to give a new brand of Keto chocolate chip cookies a go.

Maui Keto Treats makes a range of mixes, everything from donuts and malasadas, to french fries and pizza crusts. They also sell concoctions with macadamia nuts and ube so the Maui part of the company name is definitely something that shows up in their recipes.

I love when Keto companies don’t just stick to the basics and branch out to try to provide options that are regionally or culturally significant. One thing that I miss about eating low/no sugar and low carb is that everyone is trying to make the perfect roll, and it leaves the market wide open for so many possibilities. Luckily, there are small companies like Maui Keto Treats that are willing to step into the mix and add some variety.

Their butter cream cookie mix was good. It was a little less sweet than most chocolate chip cookies I’ve tried with no cooling taste afterwards, which was great, and a good amount of chocolate chips. Now, personally, I enjoy a LOT of chocolate chips in my cookies, so next time (yes, I will definitely try these again) I’d likely add an extra handful of chocolate chips and maybe even some small walnut or pecan chunks.

As the pictures show, the mix is easy to make with an egg, some butter and a bit of cream cheese. Next time I would definitely add the vanilla extract. I left it out because it was optional, but I think that would make the flavor slightly more traditional.

The only thing I wish I could find is a mix that gives the end result a slightly thicker and more dense finished product. I know using nut flour makes the cookies more airy and more likely to crumble, but I’m not going to lie, I dream of finding a cookie mix which comes close to the cookies my brother used to make. Man, can he bake a mean chocolate chip cookie.

So for now, I’m giving this mix high marks and I think with some adjustments for personal taste, it will score even higher on the ‘dream cookie’ memory scale. lol
